MariMo’ Music and Dancap Productions Inc. present
Marion J. Caffey’s
3 Mo’ Divas
In Toronto as part of 22-City North American tour
A musical celebration of class, sass and style
from the creator of Toronto hits Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Cookin’ at the Cookery
February 12, 2008 (Toronto) – The creator of smash hit musicals Cookin’ at the Cookery and
Three Mo’ Tenors has a new success on his hands with 3 Mo’ Divas. Dancap Productions Inc. is proud
to present 3 Mo’ Divas in Toronto at the beautiful Winter Garden Theatre (189 Yonge Street) from
March 4 to March 16, 2008. Tickets are on sale now with Ticketmaster by telephone at 416-872-5555
or online at dancaptickets.com. Tickets range from $45 to $75 each.
“My joy is that I always hope to entertain and enlighten,” says Broadway Writer/Director
Marion J. Caffey. “To move human beings to laugher or to tears is all a creator could ever hope
for and to do that en masse is always much better. This is a very family friendly show where you
can bring your great-grandmother, your ten-year-old and everyone in between and there’s
something in the show for each of them.”
3 Mo’ Divas follows the great success of Mr. Caffey’s international hit, Three Mo’ Tenors, which
opened to critical and audience acclaim in New York City in 2000, was taped for PBS, recorded a
CD for RCA, recorded a DVD for BMG and continued touring until 2006. 3 Mo’ Divas is an
entertaining, theatrically staged concert performed magnificently by some of the most phenomenal
and versatile talent the world has to offer. It is truly a celebration of the female voice ranging in
music genres including Broadway, Jazz, Opera, Blues, Movies, Soul, Gospel and R&B. The North
American tour kicked off on October 21, 2007 in San Antonio and will travel to more than 20 cities.
The tour stars Gretha Boston, who has been seen in Cookin’ at the Cookery and Showboat;
Andrea Jones-Sojola who has portrayed the role of Frasquita in Carmen and Papagena in Die
Zauberflöte; Laurice Lanier, a 2002 graduate of Julliard who has performed at Carnegie Hall and
in La Boheme on Broadway; DeVonna Lawrence who was cast in the premier role of “Beauty” in
Beauty and the Beast by American composer Richard Faith; Nova Y. Payton who garnered a 2006
Barrymore Award nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Effie in the
Philadelphia, PA production of Dreamgirls; and Jamet Pittman, a Carnegie Hall soloist who was
also in Broadway’s La Boheme, Porgy and Bess, and Master Class.
“If good things come in threes, then 3 Mo’ Divas delivers with an uplifting and, for some,
profoundly spiritual experience,” adds Aubrey Dan, president of Dancap Productions Inc. Mr.
Dan formed a partnership with Marion J. Caffey of MariMo’ Music, Inc., and produced 3 Mo’
Divas (2006) across North America. Toronto audiences may also be familiar with URINETOWN:
The Musical (2004), Ain’t Misbehavin’ (2005) and Hair (2006) that Aubrey Dan produced with
The Canadian Stage Company.
