A FASHIONABLE SHOW
Aubrey Dan, president of Dancap Productions Inc. and Kimberley Newport, president of Pink Tartan join to re-style, invigorate and excite Toronto theatre.
Toronto, Ont. Sept 11th 2007. “Take me to the theatre” are the five most wonderful words in the English language, according to theatre critic Michael Feingold. The old elegance, glamour and glory that make going to the theatre so wondrous are being restored with the exceptional partnership of Dancap Productions Inc. and fashion house Pink Tartan.
Dancap Productions is a visionary new theatre company dedicated to bringing the jewels of Broadway and London’s West End to Toronto. Aubrey Dan, president of Dancap Productions is not only transporting to Toronto a roster of award winning theatrical offerings that are to be the envy of any metropolis, he is introducing a whole look and experience along with it. “At its best, going to the theatre is an exhilarating event – something special to look forward to as one
escapes everyday life,” states Dan. Dancap Productions is dedicated to rebuilding the allure of going to the theatre by making it a complete experience – the Dancap experience.
In harmony with Dancap’s vision, Kimberley Newport–Mimran of Pink Tartan has designed uniforms for the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre, exclusively for all Dancap productions. Together the team will ensure a completely captivating and emotional experience in every aspect of the theatre. Newport has designed uniforms that take old world details and reworked them into a modern style statement, “Dancap navy is the base colour and we have incorporated antique gold as the hardware. The use of materials parallels their historical and rich surroundings.” According to Newport, “it is critical to the Dancap experience that all elements surrounding the brand and aesthetics are consistent and complimentary. The customer should
immediately feel a sense of arrival.” From the professional, courteous and well-styled attendants, Pink Tartan is creating a strong, clean and historically rich image.
The uniforms will include all of the traditional elements with a fresh fit. For ushers and attendants Newport has designed a tailored pant, vest, blazer and shirt for the men and a simple a-line dress with caplet or cardigan as an alternative for women. Doormen will look their part in a long luxurious coat and white gloves. The fabrication is technical with stretch for comfort and is colour fast and wrinkle resistant. Trim details include gold cording and velvet application to the uniforms adding texture and elegance. Antique gold hardware has been applied to all the garments reminiscent of old world style, but with an updated finish and proportions. Pink Tartan’s philosophy of “modern luxury that fits impeccably” is clearly demonstrated in the silhouettes. “We cut everything to be comfortable, smart and fashionable. We give classic styles a modern designer edge,” says Newport.
After a night at a Dancap production with Pink Tartan’s sophistication and chic elegance brought back into a night at the theatre, critics around the world may be making their five favorite words into six –“Take me to the Dancap experience.”
